Family Child Care At It's Best!

Let me introduce myself, I am Charmin Parks and I am a professional child care provider. I am married to a wonderful man, Preston. Preston and I have been blessed with five wonderful sons and twelve beautiful grandchildren.

My husband and I absolutely love children. Our philosophy has always been "The more the merrier". Please know that your child will be dearly loved while in my care and will be treated as if he/she is one of our family.

I have been a professional child care provider for 19+ years. As a Maryland State Licensed Family Child Care Provider, I must meet stringent licensing requirements. I have passed a comprehensive background check (including family members) and a basic orientation program. I have over 750 hours of child care related trainings. I am also certified in CPR, First Aid, and SIDS Training.

I am an active member of the Charles Country Family Child Care Association, the Maryland State Association for Family Child Care, NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children, Maryland AEYC, Southern Maryland AEYC, and NAFCC (National Association for Family Child Care). I am currently serving as Vice President for the Charles County Family Child Care association.

When you leave your child in my home, you can be sure that it is fully-equipped for your child's physical safety (ex. safety gates, scald guards, first-aid kits, doorknob covers, fire extinguishers, electrical outlet covers, etc.) In addition, regular home inspections are performed by the Maryland Office of Child Care and the Maryland State Fire Marshall to ensure that I am consistently maintaining all state standards and regulations.

My home is equipped with a wide range of developmentally appropriate educational materials and supplies. Ranging from small muscle developmental toys such as puzzles, blocks, and Legos to music materials, language skill supplies, arts and crafts materials and outdoor play equipment. Your child will enjoy (and be challenged by) a wide selection of books, games, and toys. We also offer a wooden train table and kitchen centers, which are a huge hit with all of the children.

As part of my Child Care Program, I provide exciting and creative activities from Mother Goose. This on-going preschool program is both entertaining and educational. Your child will enjoy activities ranging from arts and crafts projects to games, songs, finger plays, storytelling, creative dramatics, exercises, science, and much more. Mother Goose offers a joyful start to learning! Mother Goose Time fulfills the Head Start Domain Elements, Standards, and Indicator Guidelines and is consistent with the National Association for the Education of Young Children Guidelines for curriculum content.

Your child will receive the attention, love, and support they need when you leave them in my home. I will interact with them with open affection and respect. I will encourage your child's development. I will see to it that your child is kept comfortable, relaxed, and happy.

I look forward to caring for your child and to working with you,
